About HerSpace Therapy
Helping women find themselves again.
We’re a small, boutique practice offering therapy for women in Crystal Lake and online throughout Illinois. If you've been here before, you may know us formally as Revive Relationship Therapy.
Hi, I’m Amanda, LMFT, founder of HerSpace Therapy.
When I first became a therapist, I thought my job was to help people feel better. It turned out to be so much more than that.
Again and again I sat across from women who looked like they had everything together from the outside. Successful, dependable, devoted partners, mothers, and friends. Underneath, however, a lot of them were exhausted, anxious, disconnected from themselves, and quietly wondering why life felt so much harder for them than it seemed to for everyone else.
The problem was almost never a lack of knowledge or effort. These were capable women. It was that somewhere along the way they had learned to put themselves last. They ignored what they needed, questioned their instincts, and kept the peace to avoid upsetting or disappointing anyone. Then, when I became a mom myself, I began to experience it all firsthand.
From Revive to HerSpace
What started out as a relationship practice became something else.
In the early years of my clinical work, I specialized in helping people build healthier, happier relationships. That's when Revive Relationship Therapy was born. Then life began to shift. I stepped back from seeing clients to grow Revive into a group practice, hiring and supporting a team of incredible therapists while raising my own kids. I loved those years.
As my kids got more independent, though, I started feeling the pull back toward the therapy room, and my vision for the practice began to change too. My own experience as a working mom had grown into a real passion for supporting other women and mothers, and I came to understand that the relationship a woman has with herself matters just as much as the one she has with her partner and family. So I made the hard call to close our Chicago office and started dreaming up something new.
In September 2026 I rebranded to HerSpace Therapy, returned to clinical work, and opened an office in Crystal Lake, closer to where I actually live. Our focus now is individual therapy for women, though relationships are still a large part of that work (because they're a large part of most women's lives), and I still have Chicago-based clinicians who see couples virtually for anyone who is looking to work with their partner.
Who HerSpace Is For
Most of the women we see are somewhere in the middle of a life they built on purpose and can't quite enjoy.
I created HerSpace to be more than a place to talk or somewhere to vent. Somewhere you can really slow down, understand yourself more deeply, challenge the beliefs that don't fit anymore, and start living in a way that feels like you rather than who you've felt expected to be. If you leave therapy more connected to yourself, more confident in your decisions, and more able to build a life that reflects who you actually are, then we've done meaningful work.
This isn’t about “fixing” you or your relationship (because, spoiler: nothing is broken). It’s about having honest, empowering conversations that bring clarity, healing, and a deeper connection into your life, so you can feel more like you again.

What you can expect from us…
-
Collaboration
You're the expert on your life. You know your marriage, your kids, your job, and what you can actually pull off in a given week better than anyone sitting across from you. Your therapist brings training and questions. You bring the part nobody else has.
-
Honesty
You'll hear what we actually think.
If something you're saying doesn't add up, we'll say so, kindly and without making it a thing. Not because we know better, but because you deserve more than someone nodding along for fifty minutes. -
Acceptance
Nothing you say is too much. The thought that makes you sound like a bad mom, a bad partner, or someone who isn't grateful enough for a life she chose. You can say it out loud here. It won't change how you're seen.
-
Curiosity
Putting yourself last, keeping the peace, second-guessing what you already know. Most of it made sense once. We'll look at when you learned it and what it was protecting you from, and then you decide whether you still need it.
-
Flexibility
Come straight from school pickup, or close your laptop thirty seconds before we start. If you need the first ten minutes to unwind and unload, we’ll take them. At then end, leave with something small enough to actually implement.
-
Humor
Laughing about it doesn't mean it isn't serious. Humor can make a hard thing bearable enough to look at directly. If the dark joke is what lets you say the thing, make the dark joke. And if you and your therapist find something funny, laugh.
