I'm Amanda, a licensed marriage and family therapist, and I've been doing this work for over a decade. I started out focused on couples and relationships, as Revive Relationship Therapy. These days run HerSpace Therapy and work with women and mothers who are carrying more than they let on. The ones who overthink every decision, give everything they have to everyone else (even when it costs them), and will often answer "how are you" with "good, busy" despite quietly running on empty.
Together we'll look at why you think and act the way you do, and at what you actually value and want your life to look like. You'll be gently challenged and supported through the harder parts, with enough humor and safety to make that possible. You'll leave with something you can use, and it won't be a morning routine that assumes a free hour you don't have. As a working mom myself, I know how hard it is to make room for all this, and I also know how meaningful it can be with the right support.

What it’s like to work with me:
Creating and running HerSpace has allowed me to merge two of my greatest passions—helping others and building something meaningful.
In our first session, we'll start with what's been going on recently and what made you reach out now. Maybe you snapped at your kid or your partner (again) over something small. Maybe the juggle of work and home stopped feeling manageable. Maybe you've been avoiding conflict while having plenty to say. We'll talk about all of it, along with what you're hoping for and what has or hasn't helped before. We'll save scheduling and what a diagnosis does or doesn't mean for the last five minutes.
After the intake, we'll usually start with what's going on in the present. Something happens during your week: a fight with your partner, a night spent stressing over a looming deadline, a hard day with a tired toddler. You make sense of it a certain way, you feel something, you do something, and it loops you right back where you started. We'll also look back at where those patterns came from, why they stuck around, what you don't need to carry anymore, and what matters to you oving forward.
Background & Experience
-
Like many therapists, I didn't start out in this field. After college I went into digital advertising, where I built some incredible relationships and had very little passion for the work itself. I knew it wasn't my long-term path, so I went back to school part-time while working full-time and earned my master's in couple and family therapy.
I also always knew I wanted to run a small business. It runs in the family. My dad owned and operated an architecture firm, and I grew up watching what it looks like when someone genuinely likes what they do. I feel that way about this practice. Revive Relationship Therapy was my first baby, in the sense that I started it around the same time I had my actual first baby. A few months in I hired my first employee, opened an office in Chicago, and the team grew from there, though I kept it deliberately small so I could be present at home and still do work I cared about.
For several years that meant leading the practice rather than sitting in the therapy room myself. That stretch was meaningful, and it's also where my sense of the work started to shift. I was beginning to understand what it actually takes to be a working mom, and I kept noticing how many women were struggling to get by even when everything looked fine from the outside. That's what pulled me back. In September 2026 I rebranded to HerSpace Therapy, and I'm seeing clients again, in my Crystal Lake office and online across Illinois.

Most of my work draws on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Between them, we’ll explore your values, make sense of the thinking that drives how you feel and what you do, and how to build greater tolerance for the parts of life you can't think your way out of.
I'm also trained in the Gottman Method Couples Therapy (Level 1), Prepare and Enrich Premarital Therapy, and systems therapy, which shapes how I look at relationships even when I'm working with someone individually. Anxiety, burnout, career stress, and exhaustion almost never sit in isolation. They're tangled up with a partner, a family, what home actually feels like day to day, and whether there's anyone around to help. Understanding those patterns usually explains more than looking at the symptom alone.

I hold a Master's degree in Couple & Family Therapy from Adler University and graduated in 2014.
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in the state of Illinois (#166.001099). I am also working towards my PMH-C (Perinatal Mental Health Certification).
Outside of Work
Outside the therapy room, I'm a mother to two amazing kiddos and wife to a loving partner. I love good food and wine, a strong cup of coffee, and true crime podcasts. Traveling with my husband and kids is my favorite way to unwind. Taking care of myself mostly looks like small things rather than a strict routine. A podcast while I fold laundry, a quiet morning before anyone else is up, house projects I may or may not actually start. I try to move my body and eat well, though not perfectly and out in nature when I can.
